The Federal Government’s $158 billion income tax cuts package has passed the Lower House of Parliament.

Labor unsuccessfully tried to move amendments to bring stage two of the package forward and to separate stage three.

The bill then passed without objection from Labor, which believes it has a better chance of amending the legislation in the Senate.

The legislation is not expected to come before the Senate until Thursday, with tomorrow’s sitting dedicated to condolence motions for former Prime Minister Bob Hawke.

More to come.
