Greater Western Sydney star Jeremy Cameron has received plenty of praise on social media after a photo emerged of a note he wrote after finding a stranger’s wallet.
- Jeremy Cameron wrote a note to a stranger after finding the person’s wallet and returning it
- In the note, he made the correct prediction that GWS would beat Collingwood in the AFL preliminary final
- Cameron kicked three goals in the Giants’ four-point win over Collingwood to reach the club’s first grand final
Part of that culture appears to be on show after Cameron left a note and $50 in a stranger’s wallet after finding it on the ground while on a team walk.
“Hey brother, I found your wallet while having a kick with the boys this morning, before we beat the Pies,” the note read.
“Hope it gets back to you! PS I’ve put 50 bucks in it so you can purchase a GWS beanie and scarf. Cheers mate.”
On the Giants official shop website, GWS-branded beanies range between $10.99 (for infants) through to $39.99, while scarves cost between $24.99 to $64.99.
The story was verified by the wallet’s owner on Twitter.
Cameron’s teammate Matt de Boer also backed the story on Sunday.
“One-hundred per cent true, I was with him at the time,” Matt de Boer told Channel Seven.
“We were on our team walk across the road from the hotel. He picks up the wallet off the ground and proceeded to go into good citizen mode.
“Paying it forward a little bit there and it’s paid off [with a grand final place].”
While some were sceptical, most responses to the letter praised the GWS goal getter for paying it forward.
