Opposition leader Bill Shorten is set to begin the resumption of his campaign in Melbourne where he will be reaffirming an old Labor promise to reverse cuts to penalty rates.

Mr Shorten will announce plans to reverse the cuts within Labor’s first 100 days in office if he’s elected in May, as well as legislation to prevent that decision from being overturned.

Penalty rates are scheduled to be cut again in July, and again in 2020 following a decision by the Fair Work Commission.
