Senior Gas Inspector

Then we invite you to read on… The position In this role, you will undertake complex and sensitive regulatory activities to ensure compliance with relevant Act and Regulations, as a designated inspector (gas) authorised under the Energy Coordination Act 1994. In brief, some of the role responsibilities include coordination of investigations into fatalities, traumatic accidents and serious accidents. This role also undertakes inspections of gas installations, major consumers, Type B gas installations, including those on mine sites, not connected gas company networks and including remote locations. We are looking for an experienced gas fitter who is well organised, proactive and self-motivated. Your people management skills, ability to communicate effectively and build and maintain networks with a range of internal and external stakeholders will be critical to your success in this role. You will also need to be a team player and act with honesty and integrity. This position is located in Cannington, Western Australia. However, this role requires flexibility to travel within the state of Western Australia. What do you require to successfully undertake the role?

  • A G permit in gas fitting or a certificate of competency in gas fitting is required. Class I, E and/or P permits in gas fitting or equivalent certificates of competency are advantageous.
  • Substantial experience in carrying out all types of gas fitting work, in gas fitting supervision (or similar) and in gas fitting inspection activities (or similar).
  • Cert IV in Government Investigations or equivalent experience and skills in investigations.
  • Demonstrate highly developed interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills including the ability to produce quality reports using the Microsoft suite of applications
  • Demonstrate knowledge of gas distribution systems or gas networks, their legislation and applicable Standards
