Two surf lifesavers missing after boat flips while trying to rescue swimmer off Port Campbell

Two surf lifesavers are missing after going to the aid of a swimmer who was struggling in waters near Port Campbell, in western Victoria.

Victoria Police said a man got into trouble while swimming in the Sherbrook River in Port Campbell National Park about 10:30am.

A rescue boat from the Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club went to the man’s aid and flipped in the surf.

Three people in the rescue boat were thrown into the water.

Two people, including the swimmer, have been winched to safety but the search for two others continues.
